Have you ever stopped to think about the most fundamental question of all: where did everything come from? The universe, life, you, me – where did it all start?
For centuries, humans have sought answers to this question. Some say it’s all just a product of chance and evolution. But I believe there’s a more profound truth.
It starts with three simple words:
“In the beginning, God...” (Genesis 1:1)
These words, found in the Bible, reveal the stunning truth that behind all of existence is a loving, all-powerful Creator. God is the one who brought light out of darkness, order out of chaos, and life out of nothingness.
God’s Masterful Creation
God created the earth, with all its majestic mountains, lush forests, and vast deserts. He created the oceans, with their incredible depths and mysterious creatures. And He set boundaries for the seas, just as He told Job in the Bible: “Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness?” (Job 38:8-9)
The Beauty of Creation
Just look around you – the intricate design of a snowflake, the majestic beauty of a sunset, the incredible complexity of the human body. Can all this really be just a product of chance?
I don’t think so. There’s a divine hand at work here, a masterful Artist who crafted the universe with precision and love.
The Wonder of Life
And then there’s the miracle of life itself. You and I are not just random collections of cells; we’re living, breathing, thinking beings with hearts that beat and souls that yearn.
Where did this life come from? I believe it’s a gift from God, a precious treasure that we’re called to steward with love and care.
So, What’s the Big Deal?
So, why does it matter where everything came from? Well, if we’re just products of chance, then life has no inherent meaning or purpose. But if we’re created by a loving God, then everything changes.
We have purpose, significance, and a reason to live. We’re not just drifting aimlessly; we’re on a journey with a destination.

Who Created God?
But then comes the question: who created God? Honestly, I don’t know. And I don’t think anyone can fully comprehend the nature of God’s existence. However, I believe that God was given – not created, but given. He simply is, always has been, and always will be. He’s the uncaused Cause, the unmoved Mover, the eternal One.
In the Beginning, God…
These three words change everything. They invite us to see the world, ourselves, and our place in the universe in a whole new light.
So, take a moment to ponder the profound truth that “In the beginning, God…” – and discover the incredible difference it can make in your life.
**********
The term “uncaused” refers to something that exists without a prior cause or explanation. In other words, it is not the result of a previous event, action, or circumstance.
In the context of God’s existence, “uncaused” means that God is not the effect of something else; He is not created or brought into being by anything else. Rather, He simply exists, and His existence is not contingent upon anything else.
Think of it like this: everything in our experience has a cause or explanation for its existence. For example, a book exists because an author wrote it, a tree exists because it grew from a seed, and so on. But when it comes to God, there is no prior cause or explanation for His existence. He just is.
This concept is often referred to as “aseity” in philosophical and theological discussions, which means “existence in oneself” or “self-existence.” It’s a way of describing God’s unique status as the uncaused Cause, the One who exists independently and eternally.
